Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” that explains how much your mental health care is expected to cost. Under the law, healthcare providers are required to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for their healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your healthcare provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. You may also ask any other healthcare provider you choose for an estimate of the expected cost of their services.
A Good Faith Estimate is provided to help you understand what your care may cost before receiving services. Please keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may have the right to dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate and your bill.
