Therapy for Trauma and PTSD in NYC

Services available virtually in New York as well as Florida and Texas.

Did you know that our experiences shape the way we move through the world and relate to ourselves and other people?

Sometimes, what we think of as a personality trait is actually a response we learned to help us feel safe. Past experiences, including trauma, can shape how we show up in the present in ways we don't always recognize:

  • Struggling with conflict (Disagreements quickly turn into arguments, defensiveness, shutting down, or avoiding difficult conversations altogether).

  • Struggling to feel good about ourselves (You question your worth, compare yourself to others, put yourself down, or rely on other people’s approval to feel good enough).

  • Struggling to say no (You agree to things you don’t want to do, put other people’s needs before your own, or struggle to speak up when someone does something that makes you uncomfortable).

  • Struggling to trust ourselves and others (You second-guess your decisions, doubt your instincts, question other people’s intentions, or expect to be let down even when you want to feel close to someone).

  • Struggling to identify or express what we need (You find it hard to ask for help, explain how you feel, tell someone what’s bothering you, or speak up when something isn’t working for you).

  • Struggling to feel safe opening up to others (You pull away from people, hide your feelings or thoughts, avoid difficult conversations, push others away, or try to keep everyone happy to avoid rejection or conflict.
